Thanks for popping by!
How I got here
For the past 20 years, I've worked on websites and mobile apps across small businesses and global brands. At 28, I switched careers to learn design and development, completing a BSc in Multimedia Technology. Since graduating, I've held multiple roles including Web Developer, Digital Producer, Content Developer, and Technical Content Designer.
These days, I focus on content systems design - the structural side of things where taxonomy, content models, and component libraries all meet. I enjoy the puzzle of making content consistent across products, and I'm always tinkering with AI-assisted workflows to see how they can make systems easier to build and maintain.
Latest project
My last contract took me back to HSBC where I was part of a team who built a tool to help new and existing customers find a mortgage.
Places I've worked
I've been freelancing for 20 years with most of my contracts with these companies being between one to two years .
Aquascutum
Developed email campaign templates using HTML, CSS and Photoshop, testing for accessibility and layout consistency across multiple screen sizes and email clients.
Aviva
Led a team of web producers to migrate the Aviva UK insurance website from Django to Adobe Experience Manager. We audited and rebuilt the site, improving confusing journeys and removing duplicate content, we then designed and implemented structured content models that were rolled out globally.
Barclays Digital
Worked with the Barclays Digital team for over 4 years across multiple digital touch points including secure online banking, retail and wealth websites, and native mobile apps. In my final year I led and coached web production teams in London, Glasgow and Pune.
BBC
Supported BBC learning teams to develop new features and maintain content across BBC Ouch, Webwise, Skillswise and First Click websites.
HSBC
Migrated legacy forms to Adobe Experience Manager as part of a global project. This included redesigning and rebuilding forms with display logic, regex validations, submission endpoint configuration, and form fragments for translation to multiple languages. Most recently, worked on the Mortgage product finder featured in my latest work.
Lloyds Business Banking
Supported the Business Banking team with the transition of the website to a fluid grid and new design. This required analysis, planning and collaboration with UX, Product and site administrators to preemptively adjust grids and component structure, ensuring the site reflected the updated design with minimal impact to customers.
Marks & Spencer
Developed high-profile campaign and landing pages for the M&S e-commerce website and M&S Bank. Worked with an external partner to build interactive content for in-store touchscreens, and developed data capture forms for M&S competitions on Facebook.
Virgin 02
Worked with design and UX teams to build self-serve help journeys for Virgin Media customers. Also collaborated with an external agency to develop the Best Bits web app, which surfaced personalised data-driven content to consumers.
Web Development
Developed, configured and hosted e-Commerce websites for multiple agencies and private clients.
What it's like to work with me

“Tarik and I worked together on a content migration project (from code to AEM CMS), where he spearheaded technical content strategy with me. His expertise and deep knowledge around adaptive content, content models and experience design best practices made him an incredible person to work with. Tarik was instrumental in the success of the project, working with senior stakeholders cross-functionally, while ensuring he lead a team of content producers to deliver a customer-centric experience. I'd work with Tarik again in a heartbeat!”
Eleni Demetriou
Content Design & Adaptive Strategy leader at Mastercard

“I had the pleasure of working with Tarik on the development of several of the BBC’s flagship adult learning websites such as, First Click, Connect, Skillswise and Webwise. Tarik is fantastic at ideas development, interaction and content design. A passionate self starter and collaborative team member, he always ensures the needs of the user are the heart of decision making and is a great advocator of user centred design.”
Dr Rain Ashford
HCI User Research and Innovation Specialist

“I’ve worked with Tarik on and off for over a decade, including multiple contracts, and he’s consistently been one of the most capable people I’ve hired. He combines deep, hands-on enterprise-level CMS expertise with the flexibility to step into content design, content strategy, and delivery when needed. Rarely do you find someone this technically strong who can also think end-to-end.”
